Their factory occupies an 8.2 acre site in Bradford, West Yorkshire. It is a centre of excellence and sets the standards employed by S&I’s operations around the world. They operate a demanding health and safety policy that ensures strict adherence to safety regulations.
S&I needed to replace their ageing analogue exterior CCTV surveillance system which had suffered from reliability problems and was costly to maintain and repair. They also wanted to add internal surveillance cameras to support their health and safety regime.
Robin Graham of S&I purchasing department comments “During the product presentation stage it became evident that the capabilities of the Mobotix M10 IP network camera proposed by Goldeneye, exceeded that of the competition and met all our requirements. The image quality was good and in view of our past experiences with reliability, the minimal maintenance and minimal infrastructure requirements of the Mobotix system was of particular interest.

“We also liked the fact that Goldeneye were offering us an end to end solution
which included concept and design, installation, after sales service support,
remote monitoring and alarm response, all from the one supplier.”
Robin Graham, S&I Purchasing Manager
“A visit to their impressive new Alarm Receiving Centre illustrated that they had the technical expertise to carry out the required work and a number of site visits to some of their existing satisfied customers, convinced us that they had a record of delivering what they promised.
Since installation, the camera system has proved reliable and stable in performance and Goldeneye continues to work with us to ensure that we get the best from our system. Their remote monitoring service is professional and well run and meets all our security requirements”.
Paul Driver of Goldeneye UK comments. “The S&I site covers a large area, with a modern, prestigious office building and 15,000 square metres of manufacturing space. The camera’s therefore needed to cover areas which varied greatly in terms of size, both internally and externally. Conventional wisdom would have suggested the use of Pan, Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) cameras in some locations, but these have the high infrastructure costs and long term reliability implications which S&I were keen to avoid. The mega-pixel image quality of the Mobotix cameras and the wide variety of lenses and housings available, enabled us to optimise the camera performance at each location and use static cameras instead of PTZ’s. This, and the inherent reliability of the Mobotix cameras, will give S&I the level of long term reliability and low running costs that they are seeking.

“We worked closely with their IT department to create a network infrastructure
to support the system which was easy to run and maintain, and more importantly, one
which would not significantly impact on their core operations and activities in the future.”
Paul Driver, Managing Director
Health and safety was of major importance to S&I, as they were keen to maintain their high reputation in this area and this required close contact and cooperation with S&I safety staff throughout the installation”.
